High Speed Complexity
The rotor is a mechanical sub-assembly characteristic of helicopters and rotary-wing machines which enables them to fly vertically and hover. In a classic configuration, there is the main rotor which provides lift, made up of two to eight tilting blades depending on the phase of flight, and a tail rotor which prevents the helicopter from turning on itself.
The components of the rotor are subjected to extreme stresses and must be able to withstand very high rotational speeds. Consequently, for many of its components, forged solutions are used, a unique process allowing the production of single-piece parts with optimal geometry and mechanical characteristics.
Setforge, thanks to its excellent forging expertise, is able to produce high value-added components for helicopter rotors. Particular attention is paid to the choice of materials such as high-performance steels, super alloys, titanium or aluminum. Heat treatment and non-destructive testing operations are also offered by our companies benefiting from the NADCAP certificate.
